Lead Professional Development Phase Coach Conor Sellars remarked: “It is brilliant news. This season, they have earned a spot in the Under-21s and they have kept it, all three of them. Because of that, they all wanted new contracts. We have given them professional terms and they just have to keep their feet on the ground now and keep working, but they have all had a really good season so far.”
Ocaya netted a hat-trick for the Under-18s in December in an impressive 6-1 thrashing of Sheffield Wednesday at Bishop Burton College.

David Akintola to quit England
David Akintola could leave Hull City in the next few days after he was not included in the club’s 25-man squad for the remainder of the season.
The Nigerian winger, 30, who recently rejected two moves to the Turkish Super Lig before that transfer window closed, is seeking regular playing time.
Because transfer windows in countries like Slovenia and Croatia remain open for a short period, a move abroad is possible.
A transfer to Maribor, which is owned by Tigers owner Acun Ilicali, could be an option for him to secure the regular playing time he is seeking, as his opportunities at City would be increasingly limited.
The winger joined Hull City in August 2025 and has a contract until June 2027.
In the current Championship season, he has made 20 appearances, scoring one goal and providing two assists.
His current market value is €1.20m.

Osimhen to Eric Chelle: Now you’re a great coach
Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle has revealed the most touching moment he encountered with star striker Victor Osimhen at the 2025 AFCON that caused him to cry.
Eric Chelle recalled that after the Super Eagles crashed out of the 2025 AFCON via penalties to hosts Morocco, he came up to Osimhen and told him the team have to make sure they win the third-place match against Egypt.
He further recounted to After Foot RMC: So I told him, ‘I’m proud of what you’ve done since I took over this team.
“If you ever need me, whatever happens in your life, you call me, I’ll come.’
“When I arrived, you were already a great player, I didn’t arrive as a great coach.
“He looked at me and said: ‘Coach, maybe you were a small coach, but now you are a great coach.’
“At that point, I burst into tears. Honestly, it was hard to go on to training afterwards.”
This week, the Galatasaray star has backed Eric Chelle to continue as the Super Eagles coach.
